# Explosives

<figure><img src="https://860392903-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FE2xHi2aDIHUQ3n7o7YuN%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-5f38b07f740c131841b60721fab22efde932920a%2Fexplosives-banner.png?alt=media" alt="Better Explosives banner: a nuclear bomb, C4, landmine, molotov, flashbang, triple dynamite and talkie-walkie on a dark background"><figcaption><p>Grenades, breaching charges, landmines, and airstrikes called in by radio.</p></figcaption></figure>

CraftZ's explosives come from **Better Explosives**, a mod made for the server. There are **15 items**: tactical grenades for fights, charges for breaching bases, landmines for holding ground, and a radio that calls in **airstrikes**.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Explosions throw debris.** Blocks caught in a blast aren't just deleted: they're **launched outward** and rain back down around the crater. Expect rubble after every breach.
{% endhint %}

### Tactical grenades

Throw them with **right-click**. They stack to **4**, and most recipes make **2**.

<table data-view="cards"><thead><tr><th></th><th></th><th data-hidden data-card-cover data-type="files"></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Flashbang</strong></td><td>Anyone within <strong>8 blocks</strong> who is <em>looking at it</em> gets <strong>Blindness (5s)</strong> and <strong>Nausea (4s)</strong>. {% hint style="success" %}
**Against the horde:** zombies don't care about flashbangs or decoys, but they walk straight through fire. Throw a molotov or incendiary into the path of a [horde raid](/threats-and-factions/horde-raids.md) to thin out a wave before it reaches your walls.
{% endhint %}

**Breaching a fortified base?** [Compressed blocks](/survival/compressed-blocks.md) and obsidian survive the blast and lose durability instead: 2 to 20 explosions to break, depending on the block.

Landmines trigger on **any** creature, **you and your faction included**. Remember where you placed your minefield, and punch mines to disarm them before walking through.

### Airstrikes

<figure><img src="https://860392903-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FE2xHi2aDIHUQ3n7o7YuN%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-fcbbddd4a14e7f7815472e4a39d22b61d401a993%2Fexplosives-talkie-modes.png?alt=media" alt="The three Talkie-Walkie modes, each shown with its bomb: Small Bombs costs 16 Small Bombs, Large Bombs costs 8 Large Bombs, Nuclear costs 1 Nuclear Bomb"><figcaption><p>The Talkie-Walkie's three modes. The screen shows which strike you're about to call.</p></figcaption></figure>

The **Talkie-Walkie** calls in air support. The bombs in your inventory are the **price** of the strike: they're used up when you call it.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Pick a mode

**Right-click** the radio to cycle its screen: **Small Bombs → Large Bombs → Nuclear**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Aim

Hold the radio and **look at your target**, up to **200 blocks** away.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Call it in

Press the **Call Airstrike** key. A siren sounds, a jet passes overhead, and the bombs fall in at an angle and scatter around the target.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

<table><thead><tr><th width="220">Mode</th><th width="170">Cost</th><th>What happens</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><img src="https://860392903-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FE2xHi2aDIHUQ3n7o7YuN%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-2efe8c2458bc7bb3a030e5c8d90c023ad92780ec%2Fexplosives-small-bomb.png?alt=media" alt="Small Bomb" data-size="line"> <strong>Small Bombs</strong></td><td>16 × Small Bomb</td><td>16 bombs spread across the target.</td></tr><tr><td><img src="https://860392903-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FE2xHi2aDIHUQ3n7o7YuN%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-388b977724d37331d43b8297553b75e7cd6dba62%2Fexplosives-large-bomb.png?alt=media" alt="Large Bomb" data-size="line"> <strong>Large Bombs</strong></td><td>8 × Large Bomb</td><td>8 heavy bombs with a much bigger blast.</td></tr><tr><td><img src="https://860392903-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FE2xHi2aDIHUQ3n7o7YuN%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-a6f566232be9ea7f68f62f4bb815dcee83ebaa8f%2Fexplosives-nuclear-bomb.png?alt=media" alt="Nuclear Bomb" data-size="line"> <strong>Nuclear</strong></td><td>1 × Nuclear Bomb</td><td>A siren, then a <strong>1 min 36s warhead announcement</strong>. When it ends, the warhead hits. Anyone nearby has time to hear it coming and run.</td></tr></tbody></table>

{% hint style="danger" %}
**The Call Airstrike key has no default binding.** Set it under **Options → Controls → Better Explosives** before you need it. If you don't carry enough bombs for the selected mode, the radio crackles and nothing happens.
{% endhint %}

The **Nuclear Bomb** can't be crafted. It comes from the top-tier Level-Up crate and is the item that can end the season. See [Save the World](/game-modes/save-the-world.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://wiki.craftz.net/survival/explosives.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
